Services

The SUNY System Administration Security Operations Center (SOC), SUNYNet, and the SUNY Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC) collaborate to provide cost-effective and risk-informed services to SUNY institutions.

Services include the following:

  • A simulated cyberattack conducted by SOC analysts to identify vulnerabilities in a computer system or network in order to help campuses strengthen their defenses before real attacks occur. 
  • Engagements are typically 4-5 weeks long and tailored to each campuses' specific needs.
  • Deliverable is a report to CIO/ISO or designee with results as well as actionable recommendations for reducing risk.
  • Service delivered by the SUNY SOC.

  • 1–2-week engagement where a SOC analyst works with the campus IT/Security Team to develop the regular practice of identifying, prioritizing, and remediating vulnerabilities.
  • The engagement can be used to develop an existing vulnerability management program, start a program from scratch, provide outside insight on a mature program, or acclimate new staff to vulnerability management.
  • Service delivered by the SUNY SOC.

  • Framework and guidance for campuses looking to launch a Security Program or augment an existing program with additional expertise
  • ​Policy definitions for critical areas of cybersecurity, such as Sensitive Information and appropriate use of SUNY-issued technology.
  • Identify and manage risks with specific focus on higher education and SUNY.
  • Incident response framework and incident response tabletop exercises.
  • Modeled directly after ITEC’s own internal Security Program and delivered by ITEC’s 15+ person Security Team. Additional information available in the ITEC Service Catalog

  • Augment existing cybersecurity staff with a dedicated team of security analysts from ITEC.
  • Monitor, configure, and alert on existing security systems (ie. CrowdStrike, AlertLogic).
  • Vulnerability scan​ning and mitigation planning.
